{"id":12932,"date":"2014-07-03T23:43:50","date_gmt":"2014-07-04T03:43:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.terada.ca\/discourse\/?p=12932"},"modified":"2014-07-08T20:58:34","modified_gmt":"2014-07-09T00:58:34","slug":"zupancic-real-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.terada.ca\/discourse\/2014\/07\/03\/zupancic-real-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"zupancic the real"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Zupan\u010di\u010d Realism in Psychoanalysis<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ici-berlin.org\/videos\/one-divides-into-two\/part\/22\/\" target=\"_blank\">ICI Conference Berlin 2011 Lecture on the second day, 29 March 2011<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The absolutely crucial point of this \u2018psychoanalytic realism\u2019 is that <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>the real<\/strong> <\/span>is not a substance or <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">being<\/span><\/strong>, but precisely its <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">limit<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>That is to say, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>the real<\/strong> <\/span> is that which traditional ontology had to cut off in order to be able to speak of \u2018<strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">being qua being<\/span><\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>We only arrive at <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">being qua being<\/span><\/strong> by subtracting something from it \u2013 and this something is precisely the \u2018hole\u2019, that which it lacks in order to be fully constituted as being;<\/p>\n<p>the zone of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>the real<\/strong> <\/span> is the interval within <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">being<\/span> itself, on account of which no being is \u2018<strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">being qua being<\/span><\/strong>\u2019, but can only be by being something else than it is.<\/p>\n<p>One can ask, of course, how can it matter if one cuts off something that is not there to begin with?<\/p>\n<p>It matters very much not only because it becomes something when it is cut off, but also since the something it becomes is the very object of psychoanalysis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zupan\u010di\u010d Realism in Psychoanalysis ICI Conference Berlin 2011 Lecture on the second day, 29 March 2011 The absolutely crucial point of this \u2018psychoanalytic realism\u2019 is that the real is not a substance or being, but precisely its limit.
