{"id":8239,"date":"2011-09-26T11:36:17","date_gmt":"2011-09-26T16:36:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.terada.ca\/discourse\/?p=8239"},"modified":"2011-09-26T12:21:54","modified_gmt":"2011-09-26T17:21:54","slug":"8239","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.terada.ca\/discourse\/2011\/09\/26\/8239\/","title":{"rendered":"\u017di\u017eek on democracy, Berlusconi, bologna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=f6Ydo2BDAjg\" target=\"_blank\">\u017di\u017eek on Youtube<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As in Eygpt and Tunisia the thinking goes, we get rid of corrupt people and we get thriving democracy and economy.\u00a0 The same formula is repeated in european countries where we do have thriving democracy.\u00a0 the multi-party democratic system can&#8217;t capture the level of social discontent.\u00a0 Zizek cites Blair in England, he was declared most hated person in UK and 2 weeks later he won general elections.\u00a0 People felt a dissatisifaction, but it can&#8217;t be represented in their political choice.\u00a0 then we get car burnings, and riots.\u00a0 what is happening now in China and Singapore should give us pause for thought &#8230; till now even if capitalism need 20 yrs of dictatorship, but when things strated to move capitalism did engender a demand for freedom\/democracy.\u00a0 but events now this eternal marriage between democracy and capitalism are heading for a divorce: Singapore, Malaysia, China, 3 strong capitalist economy, but no sign of democracy.\u00a0 this is something very ominous at work.\u00a0 We see signs in the West.\u00a0 It won&#8217;t be old fascist authoritarianism, but one direction is Berlusconi, an openly obscene functioning of power, the truth of Berlusconi, the point is what is happening in the power structure, forget who he slept with &#8230; Terry Gilliam&#8217;s <em>Brazil<\/em>, painted this new type of authoritarian regime, half obscene hedonist regime, like Groucho Marx in power.\u00a0 It&#8217;s clear that with new types of economic crisis, all of a sudden it explodes, and to save yourself you need fast radical state actions.\u00a0 Formal democracy doesn&#8217;t work like this &#8230; Bush proposed 750 billion dollars of aid to banks.\u00a0 First Congress rejected it, but then Bush, Obama,McCain, got together and told Congress this is important quit f****ng around.\u00a0 And Congress passed the bill.\u00a0 [On the Bologna educational reforms] A concerted attack on Immanuel Kant&#8217;s <em>public use of reason<\/em>, Universities now become factories to produce experts, to solve problems, problems defined by thos in power.
